Cabbage Soup Diet VS ViSalus

I have received many email’s recently asking me my thought’s on the Cabbage Soup Diet.  The main focus in the email’s, would I be willing to do a comparison of the Cabbage Soup Diet VS ViSalus…so here it is!!

Let me first start by saying that I personally don’t believe there can be a true comparison.  The cabbage soup diet is for a 7 day period AT THE MOST, cutting out sodium completely and helping the body to drop “water weight”.  The guarantee here is to drop 10lbs in 7 day’s, realistically it can’t fail!  There is no trick here, you eat NO SODIUM, very few calories, bland soup…well, you’re going to lose weight, sodium makes us retain water, and our bellies feel bloated.

ViSalus is a meal replacement with optimal nutrition.  A whole food concentrate to replace 8600 calories of food intake with as little as 90 calories in a shake!  The shakes aren’t bland, coming in sweet cream flavor and the option of adding additional flavors (8+) of your choice, also adding your choice of fruit!  I guess one concept is the same, if you reduce your calorie intake..you will lose weight!  The biggest difference is this : with ViSalus you aren’t starving your body of the nutrition it needs in order to lose the weight and stay healthy.  The cabbage soup diet will also help you lose a bit of weight, but Cabbage Soup Dietdefinitely NOT a healthy choice in my opinion.  When you starve the body, you starve the brain!!

Here are a few tips that anyone can follow no matter what choice of food you eat;

Chew thoroughly! I recently read that “digestion begins in the mouth” and if you only chew a few times before swallowing, you’re sending huge gobs of food into your belly.  It’ll take much longer for your body to break down big pieces of food to digest than small pieces.  If you chew longer, you give your mouth time to aid in digestion… which means you’ll digest faster and without a “food baby” or bloated belly.

Reduce your sugar intake. Yep, seems like a no brain-er. However, there is some science involved here.  The more sugar you eat, the more insulin you produce, we know this, right? The less sugar you eat, the lower your glucose levels remain. There is another chemical at work here too, called glucagon, and the less sugar you eat, the more fat-fighting glucagon you produce. The more sugar you eat, the less glucagon you produce.

“When you starve the body, you starve the brain!!” rightly said Mary. Whenever you choose a diet plan for your body for weight loss, you should take care that in the process, you are not depriving the body of the essential nutrients which the body needs to consume.

I would like to back you up, cabbage soup is great as a delicious soup now and then but not for using as a diet, stick to a proper healthy diet not a quick fix one.
